Job Description 

Qualifications: 

1.      First and foremost, present a testimony of salvation and desire to serve

2.      Demonstrate a calling in his life to serve in this capacity

3.      Demonstrate a lifestyle that is positive and scripturally based

4.      Demonstrate the ability to work with limited supervision

 Principal Function:

The Senior Pastor is responsible for providing vision and overall direction and administration of all church ministries, operations, programs and services; for providing leadership and nourishment for the church; and for using his spiritual gifts and skills in proclamation and ministerial care in meeting the needs of persons in the church and community.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop a clear biblical mission and vision for Sandy Springs Baptist
  • Function as the chief administrator for the total church program
  • Preach in all worship services and arrange for someone else to lead in your absence
  • Preach and teach the gospel to members of the church and the community
  • Provide oversight and vision to the Deacon Body and other ministries of the church
  • Recommend and advise on the selection of all staff members and in determining their duties
  • Provide leadership and supervision to other members of the church staff
  • Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of church ordinances
  • Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies for Sandy Springs Baptist Church membership
  • Seek to promote unity within the church
  • Coordinate quarterly meetings between community churches

 Other General Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Deacon Body and staff members in promoting the entire ministry plan of Sandy Springs Baptist Church
  • Minister to the sick, seeking to encourage them spiritually during their time of need
  • Utilize the services of support staff, consistent with their job descriptions
  • Be available for counseling of church members as needs arise
  • Support the General Operating Budget of Sandy Springs Baptist
  • Adhere to Sandy Springs Baptist’s By-laws and Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Advise the Nominating Committee in recruiting and enlisting needed workers for all ministry areas

 Basic Personal Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study and prayer
  • Provide spiritual leadership in your home
  • Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church
  • Financially support the ministries of Sandy Springs Baptist by maintaining wise stewardship
